What it is
A 1v1 video call (also written 1 on 1, one-on-one or 1 vs 1) is a private video call between exactly two people. On Chatingly, the other person is a random stranger who also pressed Start, somewhere in the world. You both see and hear each other live. There's no audience, no chat room and no stream.
It's different from a group video room, where many cameras share one screen, and different from a live stream, where one person broadcasts and everyone else watches and comments. It's also different from most “1v1 video call” apps in the app stores, which sell coins and connect you to hosts who are paid by the minute.
Most people on Chatingly are calling from India, the US and the UK, with plenty from Indonesia, Canada, Türkiye and Europe. There's no country filter, so you never know who's next. If you'd like to meet people who share a hobby, add it as an interest before you start.

| Sign-up | None. No phone number or email | Phone number or social login, usually |
| Install | Nothing. Works in your browser | App download from the store |
| Things to do together | Six games, icebreakers, reactions | Gifts that cost more coins |

Tips
Sit facing a window or lamp, not with it behind you. A bright face gets a hello; a silhouette gets a Next.
Both people are waiting to see who speaks. A smile and “hi, where are you calling from?” wins most calls.
Prop it on something at eye level. A shaky camera pointed at the ceiling is the fastest way to get skipped.
Out of things to say? Invite them to Tic-Tac-Toe or This or That. It's easier than forcing small talk.
Add cricket, anime, music or whatever you're into. We try to match you with someone who added the same.
If a call isn't working, press Next. They'll be on a new call within seconds too.
Safety
One-on-one calls with strangers are fun, and they're also where scams happen. A few rules keep you in control:
Chatingly is for adults 18 and over, and everyone agrees to the community guidelines before their first call.
