Child safety standards
No place for children, and zero tolerance for their exploitation
Chatingly prohibits child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) of any kind: sexual content involving anyone under 18, grooming, sexualizing or soliciting minors, and sharing or asking for such material. Anyone found doing it is banned. These standards apply to everyone, on camera and in chat.
What we do
How Chatingly keeps minors out and abuse off
Adults only
Chatingly is for people 18 and older. Everyone confirms they are 18 or older and agrees to the community guidelines before their first chat.
Report in every call
The flag in every call reports the person on screen, or the last match for two minutes after a call. One of the reasons is “Appears to be under 18”. The chat ends at once, the two people are never matched again, and a snapshot of their video goes to our moderators with the report.
Automatic and moderator bans
Someone reported by two different people is banned automatically and permanently, and a moderator still reviews the reports. Moderators review every report and ban for a day, a month, a year or for good. A ban covers the person's device and browser, and their IP address for up to 30 days, and it follows them if they come back on the same device or browser from a new network.
Explicit video hidden by default
A stranger's video is blurred while it's first checked, and whenever it may contain nudity. Seeing it anyway takes two deliberate steps. A video that keeps showing nudity is skipped (unless the viewer chose to see it), with an offer to report it.
Checks on the camera
Pressing Start with the camera on checks it for a face first, and a call ends when someone's own camera keeps showing nudity. These checks run in the person's browser.
Block
Anyone can block the person they're talking to, so they are never matched again, with or without a report.
Material and reporting
When we find it
Child sexual abuse material is removed and reported. When we find apparent child sexual abuse material or a child at risk, we ban the people involved and report it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) or the relevant authorities, as the law requires.
Report it in the call. If someone looks under 18, or anything in a call sexualizes or endangers a child, press the flag and choose the reason that fits. Leave the chat with Next at any time.
Contact our safety team. For anything about child safety, including concerns about a report or our standards, email [email protected] ([email protected] reaches us too). It is our point of contact for child safety.
Parents: parental-control tools on your device or network can help keep minors away from sites like this one. See also the community guidelines and the safety FAQ.
