Live, not recorded clips
Both cameras are live from the moment you connect. You see each other react in real time.
Random video call
Press Start and you're on a live, one-on-one video call with someone new. No login, no app, no coins. Here's exactly what happens after you press the button, and what to do if a call won't connect.

How to start
Your browser asks once. You see yourself before anyone else does.
Up to eight, like cricket, anime or music. Or skip them.
You're matched one-on-one with someone online, live on video.
Start a game, send an icebreaker, or press Next for someone new.
Behind the Start button
Pressing Start puts you in the queue of people looking for a call right now. Every second or so, the matcher looks through that queue and picks the best partner for you. It works through a short list of preferences in order:
Two people never meet if one of them reported the other, and two tabs of the same browser are never matched with each other.
Once you're paired, your two browsers set up the video call directly with each other over an encrypted WebRTC connection. When your networks don't allow a direct connection (some mobile networks and offices don't), the call is relayed through our own server instead, so it still works. If your phone briefly loses signal, your match waits ten seconds for you to come back before moving on.
During the call you can type in the chat, send reactions and high-fives, drop an icebreaker question, or invite your match to one of six video chat games. When you're done, press Next (or Esc on a keyboard) and the whole thing starts again.
Troubleshooting
Your browser remembered an earlier “Block”. Chatingly shows the steps for your browser, but here they are too:
Only one app can use a camera at a time on many devices. Close Zoom, Teams, Discord, OBS, WhatsApp video or another browser tab that has the camera open, then reload. On a laptop, check for a physical privacy shutter or a keyboard key that turns the camera off.
The video couldn't get through your network. Try switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data, move closer to your router, or turn off a VPN or data saver for a moment. School and office networks sometimes block video calls entirely. Chatingly gives up on a call that can't connect within a few seconds and finds you someone else, so a stuck call fixes itself.
Check the microphone button in the call isn't muted (M on a keyboard), that your phone isn't on silent for media, and that a Bluetooth headset isn't still connected in another room.
Why Chatingly
Both cameras are live from the moment you connect. You see each other react in real time.
No Google, Facebook or phone-number sign-in before your first call. Open the page and start.
A call lasts as long as you both want. Nobody gets cut off after 15 seconds.
Pressing Next really gets you someone new: people you just met are held back while new people are around.
Six games are built into the call, so a quiet moment turns into a round of Connect Four.
Chrome, Safari, Firefox or Edge, on Android, iPhone or a computer. Nothing to install.
FAQ

Usually a few seconds. It depends on how many people are searching at that moment: at busy times you're matched almost instantly, at quiet times it can take a little longer. If you added interests, we look for someone who shares one for a few seconds before matching you with anyone.
Yes to both. There's no subscription, no coins and no paid tier, and every call is a live camera-to-camera call with a real person who also pressed Start.
Yes. There's no account, no email and no phone number. You get a random nickname each visit, and the only thing your browser asks for is camera and microphone access.
No. There are no friend lists or call history, and someone you've just met isn't matched with you again straight away. If you want to stay in touch, that's for the two of you to decide, and we'd suggest caution with strangers.
If the video connection can't be set up, takes too long, or drops and doesn't recover, Chatingly moves you to a new match instead of leaving you on a frozen screen. Switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data, or a network that blocks video calls, are the usual causes.
No. There's no country or gender filter, so matching is random across everyone online. Interests are the only thing that shapes who you meet.
